Paul Ennor –
I know there aren’t many dinosaurs like me still driving C3’s but just in case I have a suggestion for the web site:
Back during the early winter Roman Basniack called me. He wanted to come take a look at the hood release system on my ’82 because the passenger side latch on his 82 had become stuck shut when the cross-over cable broke on his. He wanted to see how the mechanism worked so he could try to figure out how to open his hood. We figured it out for him but it got me to thinking; “he can’t be the only C3 owner who ever had this problem. Then I got to looking at my ’73 and found it had a slightly different but similar latch mechanism. These C3 hood release systems are all mechanical relying on simple pull cables that can and will ware out and brake sooner or later. Me, being the curious type, began an Internet search for solutions to the stuck C3 hood problem. I found half a dozen YouTube videos, most specific to certain C3 year ranges and most requiring at least partial disassembly of rocker panels or wheel wells plushaving a really long arm to reach up and trigger the latch by hand. Finally I found a real article on a California Corvette club web site with step- by-step instructions for opening a stuck hood in various year C3 hoods.
I thought it might be something that you could add to a C3 Tips and Tricks section of our web site. I’ve attached the PDF if you want to post it.
